I don’t know what hurts more; The fact that a bolt was drilled into my jaw this morning for the dental implant, or my wallet after paying for the procedure.
This morning I had my dental implant fitted in an hour long procedure. That was over five hours ago and the local anesthetic has only just worn off. My face doesn’t hurt too badly after the procedure, which is a surprise considering the fact that they drilled a hole in my lower jaw to fit the implant, before stitching my gum back up once everything was in place.
Thankfully it was a very clean operation/procedure and there was no hint of any kind of infection which I was told can be common with this sort of thing, so I didn’t need any antibiotics, just some heavy duty painkillers. My dentist told me that I probably won’t need them but to keep them nearby just in case.
I just have to be careful what I eat and try to make sure I don’t aggravate the implant in the next couple of weeks. Then in two weeks, just before I go to Vegas (16 Days), I get the stitches out and my dentist gets to check out his handiwork and make sure everything is fine.
Then from what I understand, I have to wait about four months before the actual tooth is fitted in place, and I get to finally close up the gap that’s been pissing me off for the last few months. I’ll be glad when this is all finished and I get to avoid my dentists for a while.

I’m sitting on the train home to Edinburgh at the moment, and for once I can honestly say London wasn’t that bad. I think it’s because now that things are beginning to settle down it’s not as stressful and we’re doing less trouble shooting and have more time to get everything how it should be.
The train just got to York, which means I only have another two hours or so before I arrive in Edinburgh and kickstart my weekend. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to do too much, since I’m a bit skint, I’m going into the office on Sunday morning/afternoon to do some stuff, and well to be honest a quiet weekend would be welcome. There is footy on TV tomorrow with Scotland playing Georgia, so I’ll have to find an establishment of some kind to watch it in.
I can’t really fire my brain into gear to write anything at the moment. I think I could do with another coffee or two, and maybe even a beer. Where is that damn refreshments cart when you need it?
I’m going to stop writing for now, I’m just not in the mood, and have a surf around the intertubes to see what’s being going on in the world today.

“Everyone, I have a very dramatic announcement, so anyone with a weak heart should leave now. Goodbye!” - Professor Farnsworth

In December this year the first new episodes of Futurama are going to be released. From what I’ve read they are going to be releasing four 90 minute DVD movies, and then breaking them up and turning them into 16 episodes.
To say this makes me happy is such a huge understatement. I LOVE Futurama, and hovered somewhere between rage, and devastation when it was cancelled.
The great thing is they managed to get all the cast back together, almost all of the writers, and even the same animators.
From what I read, one of the movies is going to be all about the Hypnotoad. I can’t wait, it’s going to be Hawesome. I’m giddy like a schoolgirl at this news.
I’ll end this with one of my favourite quotes.
“If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.” - Zapp Brannigan

I went into the Gower Street Watersones for the first time tonight. I’ve known it was there for a while, but avoided it for the simple reason that I know I would have spent a fortune, and well I was correct. If I had gone in before I would have spent far more money than I really should have. It took great restraint tonight.
I had only been in there about 5 minutes, and I had 8 or 9 books cradled in my arms, and I’ve no doubt, a crazy glint in my eyes. I managed to restrain myself and put most of them back. I did still walk out of there with four books, two recommended to me, and two that have been on my must buy list for a while.
I picked up:
We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver (recommended by Hannah)
Leviathan by Paul Auster (recommended by Ross)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson (I still can’t believe I haven’t read this yet)
Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman (I’ve been meaning to pick this up for a little while now)
I think these four may get shuffled to the top of my reading list after Heartfelt. So if any other readers out there have some recommendations please let me know.

I find that when left to decide these things on my own, there only tends to be one or two genres that I take chances on authors I haven’t read before. Mostly this leads me to reading some great work, and then to other similar authors. Which is fine.
The problem I have though, is when I try to step out side those genres, I struggle to find some decent reading material. It’s not to say that I don’t find some good books and authors occasionally, it’s just that I’m less willing to take the risk on someone I haven’t read before.
I currently have a pile of books at home that I’m going to be working my way through, though I doubt it’s going to take me too long to read them all. There’s maybe about twenty books in my book cases that I haven’t read, which means in a month or two I’m going to be all out of fresh reading material.
That’s where you, the few readers that stop by, can help me out.
Are there any books or authors you would recommend I pick up? Any genre at all is fine. You can either leave the details in the comments of this post, or drop me an email using the button at the top right hand side of the site if you would rather do it that way.
Any suggestions are very welcome.
