I don’t know why but these days when I sit down to write on the website, nothing happens. I can’t seem to get the first words on the page, and even when I do I realise I’m going nowhere with them.
It’s a puzzle, because it’s not as though I’m short of ideas for things to write at the moment, and I’m frequently writing plot ideas, and character notes down. Those aren’t things that are going to find their way onto this site though.
There are a few things going on in my life at the moment that I don’t really want to talk about just yet, but I think by not talking about them I may have thrown up a slight mental block.
In fact, I’m only writing about the fact that I can’t think of anything to write about, because.. well I can’t think of anything to write about.
I loved that last sentence. It was rather stupid.
I do have one creative writing project in it’s infancy that I’ll hopefully be able to talk about soon, but until it becomes a more solid entity I want to keep it to myself for a while. Which really just adds to the fact that I’m saying nothing in this post while yabbering on like a clown.

Oh… 46 days left until I hit Vegas
****
I just sat for a few minutes thinking about what I could write, and there was honestly nothing. I don’t mean I couldn’t think of a decent topic to write about either. I mean there was not one single thought that went through my head. It was a complete blank. I’ve seen more mental activity in a sandwich.
It could be because I’m normally so tired from work that my brain just shuts down when I leave for the day. Maybe I just need a holiday…. did I mention I go to Vegas in 46 days

My morning has been spent dealing with Ukrainian spammers, the fuckers that they are, and the shitty consequences of them pounding your mail server almost into submission.
Needless to say I’m pissed of, and tired.
A beer is required for lunch me thinks.

I went to see Hot Fuzz on Saturday evening. It’s funny as hell, go see it as soon as you can.
….
Too brief? Ok
….
Hot Fuzz is the latest film from comedy writing team Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. It pairs Simon Pegg and Nick Frost together for the first time since Shaun of the Dead, and once again shows the great comedic chemistry they have together on screen.
The film is set in the sleepy little village of Sandford, where London’s best cop, Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg), has been transferred to against his wishes for making the London Met look bad. In Sandford he is partnered with action movie loving, and extremely eager Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), who happens to be the son of the local Police Chief Frank Butterman.
Sandford is a sleepy little crime free village, although there are a high number of recorded “accidents”. It is this series of gruesome “accidents” that causes Angel to believe something more sinister is going on and he sets out to investigate. What ensues it an amalgamation of every action movie ever released with the comedy factor pushed much higher, from high speed car chases, extreme gunfights, slow motion tandem dives through the air while firing a pair of handguns, to a hand to hand combat battle in a model version of the village.
The film is filled with fantastic comedic moments, and is a must for any Shaun of the Dead or Spaced fans. There are a few moments that thinking back on still make me laugh out loud, I won’t tell you what they are because I don’t want to spoil them.
I recommend this film enough. It really was great fun from start to finish, and a superb take on the cop action genre. Go see it in the cinema as soon as you can, you won’t be disappointed.

In about half an hour I’m heading to the train station to catch my train to Edinburgh. The trip down to London hasn’t been that bad this time, but I’m still really looking forward to getting home and chilling out in the flat.
Normally on the train I’ll fire up the laptop, and write, surf the web, and generally just mess around. Today though, I’m thinking about just unplugging for the journey. I have a couple of magazines, and a book in my bag so I’m contemplating reading, and drinking stupid amounts of coffee instead.
I think that every now and then you have to get away from the computer screen. I don’t doubt though that at some point throughout the journey I’ll be sitting in my seat with the laptop on the table in front of me. Unplugging might be good for you, but it’s a very hard thing to do.

Because I was sick over the weekend and I’ve been working in London the last couple of days, my new eating regime has gone a bit haywire. So I had expected there to be no change for the better at all this week, I was pleasantly surprised.
This week, even with all the challenges to eat properly, I’ve managed to lose another 3lbs. Which makes me happy.
On top of that I managed to get back into the 5-a-side footy game on a Tuesday, which means that at least exercise on one night of the week won’t be boring. That’s going to be a huge motivator, as sitting on an exercise bike at home for an hour isn’t exactly a great deal of fun. It has to be done though, but at lease now I have an hour exercising that I genuinely look forward to.
