Single Table SNG Challenge

Published by Chris at 9:22 am

In an effort to play more poker, and to develop my game, I’ve decided to set myself a little challenge. Basically I intend to play twenty $5 + $0.50 single table Sit-N-Go tournaments. Then once those twenty tournaments have been completed, depending on the results, I’m going to move up to the $10 + $1 single table sit-n-go tournaments, then the $20 + $2, and so on. These are all going to be played on Stars

The aim is really to quickly increase my bankroll without overly risking the little that’s there at the moment. It’s been a while since I’ve really played any online poker, and I’ve no doubt I’ll be very rusty. Virtually all of my poker in the last four months has been live home games, where if I’m being honest the standard isn’t the highest. It’s always fun, but in the end it usually becomes more of a social thing than any more than a handful of us trying to better our game.

I’m hoping that as well as building my online bankroll, (which is a goal for 2007, more on that later though), this little challenge is going to help me tighten up my game for my trip to Vegas in April so I don’t make a complete fool of myself.

I played the first SNG of my challenge this morning on the train down to London, and posted a 2nd place finish. I went into Heads Up at about 2.5 to 1 behind in chips, I managed to bring the stacks almost level, but a few hands completely crippled me.

Considering how rusty I am, a 2nd place finish is a good start. I’m hoping that the results are going to improve and I post as many 1st place finishes as possible. I’m aiming at cashing in every single one of them though, and being heads up in at least 75% of the SNG’s.

I’ll keep you updated with my progress.
